Little Me, Big D

About Me

I'm glad you came across my blog!  My name is Cait Dunn, I'm a 26-year-old blogger, rowing coach, boot camp instructor, and NASM Certified Personal Trainer living in Dallas, TX.

Here's my story.... I have the most amazing and supportive parents ever (Vlieta and Curtis).  I've always been crazy about sports, and was blessed with parents who were willing to drive me around to my various activities.  Without their love and constant motivation, I would definitely not be the fitness-loving person I am today.

I also have a little brother (John), although I guess he's not so little anymore now that he is over 6'1" and six inches taller than me.  He was also always there to support me and cheer me on at every single game/meet/regatta.

On February 7, 2013, my best friend proposed to me.  Almost a year later, we finally said "I do!"  You can read all about his amazing proposal here, the 11 months of planning here, and the big day here.  Jeff is a private chef and restaurant manager.  Lots of my recipes on this blog are courtesy of my hubby.

Lastly, we have two completely crazy dogs named Sadie and Leroy.  We love them to death, but they are quite the mischievous duo!

I was accepted into Episcopal School of Dallas as a freshman in high school, and decided to join the rowing team.  I quickly fell in love with the sport, and at fourteen, made the decision to drop my other activities so crew would have 100% of my attention.

Best quad ever (that's me in stroke seat-far right)

Rowing became my passion and I was lucky to be a member of one of the top junior rowing teams at that time.  Because of the success I had on ESD's rowing team, I was very fortunate and received an athletic scholarship to Temple University in Philadelphia.  I signed my letter of intent in November 2006, and joined the Owls in September 2007!

I spent the next four years in the city of brotherly love practicing twice a day, five days a week, and once on Saturday.

In May of 2011, I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Temple University's honors program, with a BA in Communications and minors in both business and Spanish.

After moving back to Dallas, an interesting opportunity presented itself.  Ursuline Academy, a local all girl's prep school, was hiring a rowing coach.  I coached at Ursuline for the entire 2011-2012 school year.  Needless to say, I LOVED it, and coaching was a nice transition from being a D-I athlete!  I was able to design weight lifting programs and workouts for over 20 girls, all on my own.  I also did many of the workouts with them, and even competed in one race with two of my high school rowers and my assistant coach.

In May of 2012, I found out that my alma mater, ESD, was looking for a rowing coach.  As sad as I was to leave my girls at Ursuline, I was thrilled by the thought of coaching at my old school!  I was offered the position, and became the new Head Rowing Coach at ESD.

Team huddle after our last fall race of '12...we walked away with 21 medals! (That's my back towards the camera, congratulating everyone)

In July of 2012, I decided to make fitness, health, and exercise my full-time job!  I am currently the Head Rowing Coach at ESD and a full-time personal trainer (NASM-CPT).  I love learning as much as I possibly can about anything health related.  I am committed to being healthy, happy, and strong! Pregnancy Announcement In March of 2015, my husband and I found out we were expecting our first child - a boy!  You can read about our pregnancy announcement, the fun way we discovered and revealed the baby's gender, and check out my growing baby bump!
