This little baby is over one month old now! It truly seems like just last week that I was holding our precious son in my arms for the first time. I can't believe this little goofball is already a month old! It makes me realize just how quickly this stage is going to pass, and I'm trying to cherish each and every moment with him. After a very scary first week with Jax (which I will write about soon), I was honestly emotionally drained. I felt like I was failing as a mother and didn't feel that overwhelming connection with my son like I thought I would. However, after attending several weeks of feeding/swallowing therapy for Jackson, and watching him grow and become stronger, my anxiety and fear slowly disappeared. I've become more confident in my mothering abilities and am completely in love with our baby. I'm thankful that God has blessed us with this little miracle and feel honored and blessed to be his mommy. I thought it would be fun to recap this first month by sharing some of our favorite pictures and moments. Birth Announcement: I'm a huge fan of Tiny Prints and used them for our birth announcement. I also think it's kind of neat that the color of the blanket just happen to match the font color! As I mentioned before, we had a scare when Jax was five days old that required emergency attention. After we were discharged from the hospital, hiring a professional photographer to take newborn pictures was definitely the last thing on my mind. Jeff and I were so exhausted and weren't too thrilled with the idea of messing with pictures for a birth announcement. However, after we received a gift basket full of newborn essentials from my rowing team, Jeff had the idea of using that basket to try and take our own newborn pictures. So that's what we did! I put some Aden + Anais swaddle blankets in the bottom of the basket for Jax to rest on, put another one on top of him, and used Jeff's iPhone to snap the picture. I know we could get better pictures with a professional, but we were pretty happy with how our makeshift photography session turned out! Products I love: I already shared my "Newborn Favorites" but have a few more I wanted to write about. Baby 411 My sister-in-law got me this book and it has been a lifesaver. I cannot say enough good things about this book! It's a must for all new moms-seriously. Baby 411 is the "ultimate FAQ for new parents." From what causes snoring, to which pacifiers are best to use, this book has it all. Gro EggHot, stuffy rooms increases the risk of SIDS, so it's important to be mindful of the temperature in your baby's living space. According to Baby 411 the ideal room temperature for a baby is 68 degrees fahrenheit. I love the Gro Egg because a quick glance at its color tells me whether or not the room is at an appropriate temperature. When it glows blue, the room is too cold; red is too hot; orange is a tad warm; yellow is just right! We keep our Gro Egg next to Jax's bassinet to ensure that he has a safe sleeping environment. 4moms Spout Cover Speaking of color coded temperature products...the 4moms spout cover is another favorite of mine! This digital thermometer slips over your tub spout and ensures that baby's bath water is at a safe temperature. The screen turns blue when the water is too cold, red when it's too hot, green when it's just right. It gives me peace of mind knowing that I'm not accidentally placing Jax in dangerously cold or hot water for his bath time. Boon Naked Bath Tub Another bath time favorite! The Boon "Naked" bath tub is ideal for those who want an infant and toddler tub in one, and for those who have limited storage space. This tub has a reclining feature perfect for keeping newborns at an angle so that their head won't slip under the water. It can also easily expand to a basin to accommodate an infant or toddler. The collapsible legs and hook make storing a breeze! The Boon tub also has a drain plug for quick water drainage. I love this tub and it was definitely worth the $60 splurge! Favorite Pictures: It's been an amazing, exhausting, joyful, nerve-racking month. I'm sure next month will be just as crazy with our new little roomie!
