Our son, Jackson Prescott Dunn, was born on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at 11:56pm. At birth, he weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces, and was 21 inches long. It has been a whirlwind the last three weeks...trips to the ER, adjusting the thickness of the liquids Jax drinks, attending feeding/swallowing therapy...very stressful and chaotic. Good news though-we are adjusting, learning, and managing. Jax is happy and getting stronger every single day. Every day I fall more and more in love with this little guy. We had a pretty big scare when he was only four days old, and I found myself so overwhelmed with fear that I could barely function or experience any other emotion. Now that we are working through the problem, I am finally feeling more comfortable in my new role as "mom". It's such an odd feeling to finally see and hold the baby that was kicking, hiccuping, and rolling around in my tummy for so many months. I still don't think that it has quite set in that this is my son. I love him more than anything in the entire world, and would gladly give my life for him, but suddenly being a mother is somewhat shocking! I think Jackson and I are both getting used to these new lives, and I can't wait to see how we change and grow over the next weeks, months, and years together. I love watching his ever-changing facial expressions, listening to his soft coos and snores, and breathing in his sweet new baby smell. I can't wait for the day when he will finally smile back at me, and be able to express the same love I have for him. This little baby has certainly won our hearts, and I look forward to sharing the details of Jax's arrival with you all soon!
