Well, I'm officially on bed rest. This last week has been rough.  Last Saturday I was running errands with my mom, trying to get any last minute baby essentials, and started having fairly regular contractions.  After they continued for several hours, my mom convinced me to call my doctor.  Since the contractions were still more than 10 minutes apart, and weren't excruciating by any means, my doctor advised me to keep an eye on them, and to call back if they became five minutes apart.  Of course, about an hour after I called, the contractions slowly tapered off. The next day, Sunday, the contractions continued throughout my baby shower.  Every 20-30 minutes I would feel an intense tightening across my belly and in my lower back.  I kept track of the contractions to make sure they weren't coming five minutes apart, and again, they slowly disappeared throughout the evening. The Braxton Hicks contractions continued the entire week.  I had my weekly checkup with my OB on Friday, and she immediately wanted to check everything out to get a better idea of what was going on.  Without sharing too many details, she informed me that my body is definitely starting to prepare for labor, and the baby could "come tomorrow, or a couple of weeks from now."  Panic immediately set in.  I'm not ready!  He can't come now!  We haven't even had the carseats looked at by a professional!  My hospital bag still isn't ready!  A million thoughts were racing through my mind. My due date is a bit fuzzy since we didn't know we were pregnant for two months.  We've been given a range of when to expect Baby Boy Dunn: October 20 to October 28.  My doctor obviously wants to play it safe and plan for the 10/28 due date to make sure baby is the oldest gestational age possible.  So with that target date, I was at 35 weeks and 2 days when I saw her last Friday.  She really wants me to get to 37 weeks before I go into labor-which is why I am now on bed rest until I hit that mark...just nine more days! Being on bed rest is very difficult for me.  I'm used to being independent, and handling everything myself.  Not that my hubby doesn't help me, but I'm a bit OCD and like things to be done a certain way 😉  Having to sit back and let Jeff, our family, and friends help me is hard!  I am constantly creating mental checklists and am paranoid I'm forgetting important things that need to be done before the baby arrives.  I'm slowly learning to let go, and give up some of that control.  My mother and Jeff are constantly pointing out that we are fine-everything is basically finished, and I just need to chill! So now to the point of this post... Since I'm stuck in bed, I created "The Ultimate 'Bed Rest' Netflix List!"  Hours and hours of shows to watch that will hopefully keep me off of my feet and in bed like I'm supposed to be! BedRest Some of these shows I've already watched, but I wanted to share them with you all in case anyone else is in the same situation!  Let's begin... 1. Bloodline I finished this show in less than one week.  It's insane.  I could not stop watching it! Plot: "A family of adult siblings find that their past secrets and scars are revealed when their black sheep of a brother returns home."  Let me tell you, it gets crazy when their oldest brother returns.  Trust me, this is one show you won't want to miss! 2. Narcos My husband and I just started this show.  So far, so good! Plot: "A chronicled look at the criminal exploits of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar."  Lots of action!  Be prepared to read a ton of subtitles too. 3. Friday Night Lights Can you believe I nevewatched this show before!?  After falling in love with Kyle Chandler in "Bloodline," Jeff suggested that I start Friday Night Lights.  I'm now on the final season, season 5, and have really enjoyed this show!  Go Texas, and go football! Plot: "The trials and tribulations of small town Texas football players, their friends, family, and coaching staff." 4. The Killing I haven't seen this one-starting it today actually!  Great reviews online, and looks like it will definitely keep my attention. Plot: "A police investigation, the saga of a grieving family, and a Seattle mayoral campaign all interlock after the body of 17-year-old Rosie Larsen is found in the trunk of a submerged car." 5. Luther My husband and I just started this show too.  Do you see a theme of the types of shows we like? haha! Plot: "A crime drama series starring Idris Elba as a near-genius murder detective whose brilliant mind can't always save him from the dangerous violence of his passions." 6. Scandal Again, I had never seen this show!  Obviously I had heard all about it, but I never took the time to start watching it.  Jeff and I began watching "Scandal" this summer and have been hooked ever since.  We just caught up to the current season and are now watching it every week on TV. Plot: "A former White House Communications Director starts her own crisis management firm only to realize her clients are not the only ones with secrets." 7. Sherlock I'm super excited to start this show.  A lot of my friends have recommended it and swear its addicting. Plot: "A modern update finds the famous sleuth and his doctor partner solving crime in 21st century London." 8. Orange Is the New Black After reading the book, I knew I had to watch the show.  It definitely hits all of your emotions hard!  I cried, laughed, and was on the edge of my seat every season so far. Plot: "The story of Piper Chapman, a woman in her thirties who is sentenced to fifteen months in prison after being convicted of a decade-old crime of transporting money to her drug-dealing girlfriend." 9. Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp Can't go wrong with this follow-up of a classic! Plot: "Follow the counselors and campers on their first day at Camp Firewood in the summer of 1981."   So there you have it!  Nine shows for you (and me) to binge watch 🙂  Hopefully I won't go too crazy being stuck in bed the next couple of weeks!
